FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – October 15, 2024 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable materials solutions and services, today announced the extension of its reSound™ REC Recycled Content Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) portfolio with new, globally produced, GP 7820 grades for the Fakuma International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing, held today through October 19, 2024. Specifically developed for customers who want to enhance the sustainability of their general-purpose applications, the grades can be used for colored overmolded components in consumer electronics, caps and closures for non-food applications, product grips for razors and personal care products, handles for bicycles and power tools, and other overmolding applications.

The new reSound REC GP 7820 TPE grades from Avient contain up to 60% recycled content from either post-consumer recycled (PCR) streams or a combination of PCR and post-industrial recycled (PIR) raw materials, depending on regional availability. They provide comparable performance to 100% virgin equivalents and can help reduce product carbon footprint (PCF), which can be quantified on request using Avient’s PCF Calculator, certified by TÜV Rheinland according to ISO 14067.

“To address consumer OEM needs and help OEMs reach their sustainability goals, we’ve developed a new global product line produced in North America, Europe, and Asia, offering a more sustainable alternative to virgin TPE grades. We can engage with design engineers worldwide and support the manufacturing of their products where they need us,” said Matt Mitchell, Director, Global Marketing of Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient. “These global products offer high recycled content, using robust supply chains while supporting low product carbon footprint values, all while providing the same high-quality performance Avient is known for.”

The new reSound REC GP 7820 TPE grades are available in hardnesses ranging from 40 – 80 Shore A. They are easily colorable, suitable for injection molding and overmolding onto polypropylene (PP) substrates, and available globally.

Avient will be showcasing these new materials at Fakuma, the world’s leading trade fair for plastic processing, in Friedrichshafen, Germany, from October 15-19, 2024. Attendees are encouraged to visit Avient’s booth 5016 in Hall B5 to learn more.
